Hair Design and Airbrush Makeup for Gabrielle & Trish’s Wedding in Salem, MA

Gabrielle and Trish had a beautiful sunny day for their wedding at Colonial Hall in Salem, MA last month, and I had the pleasure of doing makeup for both of these ladies.

Gabrielle wanted a strong eye, but wasn’t comfortable with heavy eye shadow, so I sculpted her eyes lightly and did a prominent upwards winged liner paired with a rosy blush and lip. How gorgeous is she?!

Trish, who never wears makeup, wanted the equivalent of grooming services for herself, so I did some airbrushing to even out her skin tone and hide imperfections, a bit of bronzer for color, and a light bit of coloring on her brows and lashes to deepen them for photos. She looked totally natural but flawless!

Top 10 Bridal Makeup Tips by Makeup Artist Christy Lavallee

Planning on doing your own makeup for your big day?  Get gorgeous and avoid wedding-day disaster with these 10 amazing makeup and beauty tips by local award-winning makeup artist Christy Lavallee of Christy & Co.

1) Treat early – Facials and peels can do wonderful things for your skin, but they often result in redness and breakouts after treatment.  Make sure you do these treatments at least two weeks in advance to give your skin time to heal and get back to its beautiful self.

2) Moisturize, inside and out – The key to gorgeous, glowing skin is to properly prepare the canvas in advance.  Applying a good facial moisturizer and eye cream will help to give your skin that dewy glow while eliminating dry, flaky skin that makeup can magnify.  (Her faves – Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre, and Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment)  And while you’re at it, you should also moisturize from the inside out – drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your wedding. A well-hydrated body results in well-hydrated skin, enhancing your skin’s natural glow and giving you a more flawless complexion.

3) Prime your canvas – To ensure that your foundation lasts the whole day, using a primer is essential.  It prepares the skin for makeup by creating a protective base that foundation can grab on to, causing it to go on smoother and last a lot longer.  There are several formulas available, including ones with tint and skin-brightening properties.  (Her faves – Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer or Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre)
